All-American Spice Blend
“A little of this and a little of that combine to create a zesty spice blend that reflects the American melting pot. Flavorful and versatile, add a teaspoon to your favorite soup or use it to season flour for breading seitan. If you’re missing one of the spices in this blend, you can modify the recipe by substituting different spices or adding more of another spice in the recipe.”

Ingredients
- 1 T ground cumin
- 1 T cayenne
- 1 T onion powder
- 1 T smoked paprika
- 2 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp ground coriander
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tsp dried parsley
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 1/2 tsp dried mustard
- 1/2 tsp red pepper flakes
- 1/4 tsp ground allspice
- 1/8 tsp ground cloves
Servings: Cup
Instructions
- Combine all ingredients in a small skillet over medium heat. Stirring constantly, toast for 2 minutes, or until fragrant.
- Remove from heat and allow to cool completely. Store in an airtight container.
